of course there are loads more issues to do with the gender divide anywhere, and including an argument for content creators in a realm that is amateurish by nature and hence mostly viewed just as a "thing" that specifically considers females, their aesthetic, sexism, and traditional gender roles and perceptions obviously makes this a topic that I can't exactly cover in one or five videos sufficiently, so I'm just exploring this in a very superficial manner. pardon my roughness. also hot cheetohs make it hard to think properly?anyways, this description has nothing to do with the title, but that's okay- Wayoh also there -are- some great female vloggers (in my opinion) but they're pretty under the radar, here we go:http://www.youtube.com/gemllamahttp://www.youtube.com/elmifyhttp://www.youtube.com/RoxinPunch(and then a bunch of others who are getting to being pretty damn great)

Jul 29, 2010 - God this was awesome. I particularly liked the bit about people not viewing vlogging as any sort of art form. Thought it was really interesting.

Aug 3, 2010 - Even though this kind of discussion is, at best, exploratory, it's still good to be reminded. It's still important to be bothered. I think there will be some disagreement as to who is guilty of pandering and submitting to gender roles, though...That being said, it really makes me happy to see so many people supporting @gemllama. No doubt I am biased because she is my friend, but I want her to succeed because I know she is so brilliant and fantastic at what she does. Thanks.~ Jethro.

Aug 3, 2010 - I think all the videos seem to hit the nail on the head- what u look like and how u present yourself does seem to matter, especially if your female.I started vlogging 3 months ago and one of my subscribers (I have 7) just sends me creepy messages- and its off putting.I purposefully try to not show myself in that kind of light (not wearing low cut shirts/limited makeup etc) yet most comments I get are about the things that I'm actively trying to avoid!I'm damned if i do and damned if I don't!

Aug 4, 2010 - Hm..... vlogging as just a thing. I'm of the persuasion that believes you don't have to realize you are making art to be making art, so I wonder how this translates to other creative endeavors. Do females utilize their sexuality or cuteness elsewhere? Why? I mean, I suppose I've seen some pretty sickly sweet doodles and such, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do....but is this a bad thing?

Aug 17, 2010 - aaah this makes me mad. there are ton of female vloggers who create great content, and most of them have mostly females viewers, because females like females and don't need male appreciation. sexes are equal. also a lot of males who are high viewership is young teen girls going gaga for slightly older cute boys. i have been on youtube since the may of 06, and a gender divide has never been apparent. both males and females make wonderful content, with low production but high quality or vice versa

goingforthegold Says:

Aug 17, 2010 - @goingforthegold eh, please ignore the grammar mistakes above. and when i said female vloggers don't need male appreciate i meant that a viewer is a viewer and it does not matter if they are male or female.
